Tension gripped Thika town as the murdered Mungiki spokesperson Njuguna Gitau Njuguna was finally laid to rest at his home in Ngoriba village. Security had been beefed in and around the village to ensure the process went on without any incidents. Vehicles transporting mourners were directed by police to drop them at the Ngoriba market, about 2 kilometers from the venue of the burial, for what the police described as security reasons. Former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga, Bishop Margaret Wanjiru, and lawyer Paul Muite were among those who attended.
