You must hit the gas pedal before turning on the car, and then let it warm up. After the car is warmed up, and then hot the gas pedal again to allow the car's idle to be normal 1000rpm. It is a choke flaw with this Honda model. when the car is warmed up, and then this car is a beast! Had mine for over nine years starting from 146,000 miles and now 205000 miles, and still going. Only replaced my alternator twice, starter once and radiator and water pump once and time belt just once. Not bad :)
Yours may very well have some issues with the carburetor & that is why it takes so long to start even though you pump like hell but what I am saying is that in THIS video I did not hear the driver pump the gas once which leads me to believe that they have little to no experience with carbureted vehicles.
i got the same problem dude. its probably a simple carb issue like needing a cleaning, once i ind out ill let you know but if you have already, let me know
ever since the temperature dropped my 88 accord starts normally but after a few seconds starts running bad sounds like a model T until it warms up then the rpms stay around 3500+ cant figure it out.
Ah, if I am not mistaken, the '88 Accord LX was still CARBURETED...DUH!!!!!! I didn't even hear the gas being pumped ONCE!!!!!!!! LEARN TO START A CARBURETED CAR, THAT'S YOUR PROBLEM!!!!

Actually, I think the carb accord of that generation only had 98 hp.
