"Her Love Story PT.1" [Spoken Word Poetry]

Forced to stare at her fate from the sidelines
She can no longer recognize images of her former self
She juggles doubt
In her left hand
And fumbles fear
In her other
Searching desperately throughout her mind for her forgotten lover
Who has disappeared from her life
Some months ago

So, for the time being she has been waiting for an answer
As if the reason to why he left her
Would somehow sink deep enough to save the rest of her hopeful heart from drowning
Her tears fall
Ten times harder than the way she fell for him
And almost as fast
As the way he fell out of love
With her
There are no words
To describe what she is going through

Coping day
By day
Is taking way too long
How do you tell someone to move on
After years of memories
After three and a half years of commitment
And faithfulness,
Nothing
Makes sense

In a world where
He is no longer there
When he is no longer the same
When her heart meets her brain
Her heartbeat bangs against the insides of her chest
Long enough until both of her lungs collapse and she knows there is nothing left
But perhaps
This
Is what she needed

If you told her
There is more to love than what she knows, would she believe it?
If you told her
There is a lesson to be learned here, could she see it?
This pain burns brighter than the flame they used to share
Can you capture love in a kiss, or in a moment?
Can it fade like blood stains left on the worn out sleeve where she used to keep her bleeding heart?
This is the hardest part
Of letting go
Of giving up
Of losing trust, losing love;
Losing him

And there are hundreds of unanswered questions
To go with the many things he still hasn't said
And I know nothing about this seems positive
But you should know this
Love
Still exists
And it will find you
Trust me
It will find you
Right where you are
