Kate performs "Ran Tan Waltz" on the 1979 Christmas special.

Lyrics:

Where is she
When the little thing cries?
She lies in a bed
With a friend of mine.
But some nights
She'll run back in fright
If she picks on a dick
That's too big for her pride.

Oh! Oh!
Why did I ever go marry her?
I was a child!
I'm holding the baby,
She's ran-tanning constantly.
She saw me coming for miles.
She saw me open wide.

Four o'clock
And the key's in the lock.
And she's been on the win
And she's stinking of drink.
Wakes the kid,
So I put him to sleep,
And she's in there all night,
Doubled over the sink.

Oh! Oh!
Why did I ever go marry her?
I was a child!
I'm holding the baby,
She's ran-tanning constantly.
She saw me coming for miles.
She saw me open wide.
Open wide.
Open wide.

  • @paulpeartsmith The dancers were Gary Hurst and Stewart Avon-Arnold.

  • Thanks so much for posting these videos from the Christmas special. Could you tell me what was the order the songs were transmitted in the special? Thanks again!

  • @ItSpeaksToMe Yes, the songs were performed in this order:

"Violin", "Symphony In Blue", "Them Heavy People", "Here Comes The Flood", "Ran Tan Waltz", "December Will Be Magic Again", "The Wedding List", "Another Day", "Egypt", "The Man With The Child In His Eyes" and "Don't Push Your Foot On The Heartbrake".

  • Great song!

But how tall is she? She looks so small here.

    Love the dancing!

  • @DebbyTessy She is 160 cm tall.

  • modern music hall! She really is wonderfully eclectic...

  • seriously one of my new favorite songs.. i love listening to this song!

  • Omigosh! OH. MY. GOSH. This is a B side?????!!!!!! By the way, do you know if her hat was supposed to come off?

  • Thank you! Does anyone now where are they now?

  • You could take a five-year-old to see this, and they would enjoy every bit as much as a 30-year-old. That's what's so amazing about her, she appeals to such a broad range of people.

  • @Katefanforever I totally agree. I am a fan of many artists and singers (2 different things) but no one has got all of me, like Kate. She puts her heart in everything she does.

  • @Sharmilka.I think I appreciate the true worth of Kate and no one is better than her.

  • That´s so right Sharmilka, that is what I think also. (Who cares what the masses like, etc..)
