Here we are at New Haven Union Station, where we see the time honored engine change being performed on Amtrak Train 140, the Northeast Regional Train to Springfield. Here, we see the electric motor being being uncoupled and run lite down to the motor storage yard and having the diesel engine backed onto the consist for the remainder of the run to Springfield. The electric motor in this case is AEM7AC 948. The engine that is backing on to the train is appropriately numbered Genesis P42DC 140. The coach consist is 8 Amfleet I coaches which includes a cafe car. Enjoy this time honored railroad move, which isn't seen too much anymore. • Was that a passenger standing at the door when 948 was uncoupling?

  • Pretty cool video.

  • "inbound 140 engine 948, Motor Shortage, where do you want this thing?"

  • Nice Vid!

  • 948 has a nice horn like so many other AMTK toasters. It's kinda funny that Regional #140 would have AMTK Genesis #140 on it.

  • Nice Video!
