the one thing i like about this video is that he/she actually shows the way to transfer the flower to the cupcake, unlike many other videos which left you wondering what you are going to do with a flower on the flower nail.

humannaturedj: Try using "Super Red" soft gel Americolor brand and some cocoa

The nail I use can be bought at Michaels craft store, Walmart or any bulk food store (ie. Bulk Barn)
Online is another option, many cake stores would sell them.

To stiffen any icing, add more icing sugar until you reach the consistency you need.

why cant you pipe straight onto the cupcake?

@little0boots It's not that you can't pipe directly onto the cupcakes, we just find it's easier to use the stem, allows for easier movement and piping. Also if you don't like the look of the flower it's not stuck to the cupcake!

Use Royal Icing and the flowers will harden no problem and can be used at a later date. Find a good recipe on our website megzcakes.ca or you can buy mix from a bulk foods store or ready made royal icing from Michaels craft store. Good Luck on your wedding cake Resarie85!
