That's disgusting it's like Christians defacing pagan statues at the end of the Roman era. Old machines like VAXen are already in museums, how about in 2000 years when these things are history pieces in the sense the old statues are now? It's a waste as well they may not be state of the art by modern standards but you'll learn much more about computers using a VAX than pushing a mouse with Windows. If all the kids of today only learn to push mice there'll be no one who understands computers!

I think one of the reasons we get so sad is that if we were with dec for a really long (I was there from 1980 though 1994) we were probably really happy for quite awhile and tended to anthropomorthize the machines. I did it and so did a lot f people around me. No one thought it was weird back then....

I like all the oldfags coming out to bitch these kids out. "GO HOME TO YOUR WYSIWYG EDITOR AND YOUR INTELLIGENT COMPILERS"...... Vaxes were, but now they're gone. Jesus, even Alpha's are gone - it's the way of technology.

This is likely the saddest thing I have seen done to a VAX short of people cutting QBUS fingers off the cards and then trying to sell the cards to me.
