Imagine yourself in the middle of something awful. Someone is going to have to take a stand to set things right. Sometimes...that someone...is YOU.

Meet Esther, the young woman at the middle of the famous Purim story. Follow her as she gets swept up into history, leaving her jump rope, her people, and her cheering section behind...maybe.

  • Thanks, Sonia! We'll see what we can do about English subtitles. We always appreciate the feedback

  • I've heard that though the book of Esther never mentions G-d, his name is hidden in acrostics throughout it- is that true?

  • @sorenkierkegaard2008 It's true that G-d is not mentioned in the text. Many believe that this is to teach us about G-d's hiddeness in this time, and about humanity and free will. Certainly there are references to other important Biblical ideas in the text, no space here to get into it but it's a marvelous area for study. I don't know about the name of G-d being hidden in the Hebrew or not, that is an interesting idea, would love to hear what you turn up.

  • hmm, not being mean, but I thought that instead of getting rid of the decree, the King made it legal for the Jews to fight back since he couldn't take his orrigional decree away {at least that's what I've heard from past Purim stories}.

  • @Christmasguy Did you read what it says on the scroll? We incorporated that in the visuals. Ot is very hard to get every little detail into 3 minutes without working in video AND audio. :-) Anyways, good catch, but watch again.

  • @Christmasguy : EMET!!! is True, the scroll is there, but the audio deceiving, our children are smart and will look any oportunity to refute and question (the Meguila details )(yes the 4th child of the seder, will ask! :)

No Jews are to be killed (could change for ) All Jews can Defend themselfs & live! ?!

P.S. we are standing up for what we belive in!,

    :):):) thxs, nice vide gdasdcast.

  • @Dolljewel Super glad everyone is QUESTIONING!! Media literacy is our heritage as the People of the Scroll/Book/Youtube video! You guys are true chachamim, KEEP QUESTIONING!!! And if you are a teacher, make sure to read our curriculum on this episode, which asks students to compare the video to the text to learn about adaptations and critical viewing skills.

  • this is a little weird...

  • @Marscrater I'm not Jewish- I'm a Christian. We celebrate some of the Jewish holidays. This is no more "supremacist" than Thanksgiving, or Ramadan. Give me a break.
