On Nov. 17, 2009 in the upstairs lounge at the Van Dyke Cafe on Lincoln
Road on Miami Beach, Montserrat Franco, Kiki Sanchez, Edilio Bermudez,
and Kevin Abanto played Latin Jazz music--many of the songs
incorporated Afro-Peruvian songs and the drummer, who is a native
Peruvian, played the Peruvian "cajon" , a wooden box that is used as a
drum in Afro-Peruvian music. Kiki Sanchez, the piano player who is also
Peruvian, added his impressive Jazz piano touch to the music and
Montserrat Franco, the beautiful and very diversely talented singer,
danced in typical Peruvian style to Afro-Peruvian music as she performed at the upstairs lounge in the Van Dyke Cafe.
