On October 25th, 2008, 425 hauled a group of railfans along the R&N's system from Port Clinton to as far as White Haven, stopping for photo runbys along the way. The weather was wet, cold, and miserable, but it made for many interesting scenes of steam working hard in the rain.

Also note the whistle #425 is wearing in this video - the Boston and Maine 6-chime steptop. This is the whistle #425wore during the Grand Opening at Steamtown in 1995. Personally I love it's mournful undertones more than any other whistle I've heard on the engine so far.

  • Happens every day at that crossing.

No shortage of idiots in that town.

  • @jay600katana I can see it now:

    *CRASH*

Engineer: Oh CRAP! This is terrible!

Guy: I know, think of how that guy'd life was cut short like that.

Engineer: No, he had it coming to him. I was referring to how we'll have to repair the locomotive after this. These things aren't exactly easy to work on.

  • @bigjim4life Keep in mind they had that hurricane that damaged a lot of rail system up there last year.

  • She is out of service now, been out the whole year. Hopefully be back mid-2012.

  • @trainguy3 Oh, I dunno. Lets hope not for long if she is.

  • @PereMarquette1223 ... well, that and some people were saying she was out of service

  • What a dumbass. He could've waited five seconds for a steamer and three cars to pass but came within yards of kicking the bucket by an old iron horse. What was so important that it almost cost his life, was he late to get home from work or somthing?

  • @trainguy3 That don't mean she is out of service then.

  • They HAVE to put gates at that crossing, because one day... a loco is going to get very damaged

  • @PereMarquette1223 when? I know she didnt do her fall trips...

  • @trainguy3 What do you mean out of service? It was just returned to service.

  • 4:56 Just another dumbass putting his life at risk.
