This piece of music I first heard in 1984...and I remember I cried. At the time I was into Jean Michel Jarre, Vangelis and Tangerine Dream...this piece proved to me that real instruments could be incorporated in with electronica to produce the most incredible music I'd heard. I went through Mikes substantial back catalog and loved most of it, especially Incantations, Crisis, Five Miles Out and Discovery albums. I also loved SOngs of Distant Earth. Nice video!

I have just remembered where I was when I heard Discovery - my first MO album. I was in the car having been driven by my parents to visit my aunt and uncle. We had arrived just after The Lake had started. I insisted on staying in the car and following them later. I was transfixed. Having only known MO for pop songs like Moonlight Shadow and never having heard of Tubular Bells, this was my first long instrumental piece. I have been a massive fan ever since, but this is where it all began :)

Thank you, Tutanchamon for giving the whole song here. Its so fantastic. To the others, those also like songs of Mike Oldfield, I only can agree.Wonderful and authentic music from the Master M.O., thank for all this goods, Mike
Of course I enjoy it, and thank you from the heart ;)))
Discovery was an album which was in my opinion criticized, but with the time, I think is probably one of the best albums ever from M.O.

@Iloveofrahaza87 Good evening lady and thanks a lot :) Thats the way it is. Usually the most underrated things are after some time turning into the legends :)

@tutanchamon1 yes I think M.O. was afected in 1984 because of the critics. And indeed at the first times you listen to the album, it doesn't seem to be special. But not so if you contiue, you discover really a incredible album, because of incredible MELODIES, like in Poison Arrows, To France, Talk about your life, Saved by a Bell, and the incredible The Lake. These melodies, are probably the diference to the other similar MO also incredible albums of the 80's, Five miles our, Crises, Islands

@Iloveofrahaza87 Exactly Iloveofrahaza87. This album is a jewel of Mikes music especially because of the unique melodies and mainly because this album and all its sounds and melodies are strictly connected to the real human feelings. It is a mix of absolutely melancholic atmosphere with a sort of fight against this let us say depression. And sorry that I'm not reacting faster...but im quite overworked nowadays.... so something like Lake is a good plaster after days like this :)
