This is a brief video tutorial on how to use a fairly basic but quite interesting feature in all modern Windows - the trace route or tracert function.
The tracert function in Windows helps you monitor the route data packets take from your computer to another I.P. address - i.e. a website /server /another computer on a network.

  • @sabbi6678 run CMD as admin. right click cmd and click "run as administrator"

  • scottish ?

  • my cmd cant trace it dont know the command?

  • It is because of the router, not your machine.

And it actually passed through all 20, not 19, lol

  • Every time I try this, The traced IP's are shown almost like a passord

    (like this: 1. * * * Request timed out)

any ideas on how to fix this? im running vista, not xp so that might be the problem

  • wtf are you sccotish with german descent?

  • the last one is the server you are connecting to, thats right but the route taken is through routers (like the name itself describes)

  • the first one is a router and the other are NOT servers! these are routers!

  • Can't go wrong with a Scottish accent.
