Kureji Lufia (older version) - Part 10: Ancient tower Gades

After the total defeat at the Gordovan tower it's payback-time now! But this time it's a serious battle for Gades, too, and after all he's a god. So don't expect, that this battle will be easier. Furthermore he is a real menace now and might be able to wipe out a fully healed party in round 2, if you do it wrong.

He has 10000 HP and performs 3 different attacks. He can use his Destructo-wave which is weaker than at the previous encounter, but not to underestimate nevertheless and can also use his Curse attack from Lufia - The Legend returns which sets one party member's HP to 1 and poisons, too.

But his most dangerous move is his Octo-strike which lets him attack EIGHT times in a single turn. Make sure to increase your defense and lower his attack power to have a better chance of surviving and pray that he doesn't spam you with it during the first rounds.

But the main reason he can wipe out entire strong parties at ease is the fact that he has up to three(!!!) attacks per turn. That means he can use Curse, Destructo-wave AND Octo-strike in a single turn!!!

The key for winning is not to attack more than once per round, because if you attack him twice, he'll attack twice from now on, too. And if you attack him more than twice per round, he'll use his complete arsenal in every turn.

At the end of the battle I attacked him twice to show his danger potential, but luckily I was able to finish him off in the following round.

oh yeah... you do kinda need to mention that you should not, EVER, use octostrike on gades himself in that battle. He counts it as a more-than-one-attack.... damn bastard ¬___¬. Even so, Undead ring + Gades blade = onslaught nevertheless.

Yeah, Gades counts it as eight attacks. However, if you use it as finishing move, it's fine. Octo-strike after several times battle lust might do a lot damage. Just make sure to win the fight before he can attack again. :)

Oh, NM about my comment on your last vid, I guess you finally did Evovle Jelze! My only question I might have still is ... why did you wait so long to do it? You could have gotten him/it to at least Level 3 by Camu ... esp. if you're playing in Retry Mode. Anyway, great vids, once I've finished Lufia II regular I'll probably give the patch a shot & see if I can avoid the Deaths you had at the end of some battles.

The saves I used were mainly made for testing purpose and I just didn't want to have an advantage because of Capsule Monster at the earlier battles.

However, for this battle I finally evolved it.

If you want to try the patch I suggest you to wait for a newer version, but this might take some weeks though.

I've played in Retry Mode, so the battles gave me enough money that it wasn't a problem to buy all the statues.

It also wasn't a problem, to buy enough things to feed the Capsule monster. Though in this fight a stronger CM is more a burden than a help, because you can't do anything to Gades, if the CM attacks him as well. So you might want that the CM is quickly beaten.
