I'm not saying its literally half the engine, as it is quite obviously not.

VW used the Gallardo engine as a reference.

In comparison: 2.5L 5 cyl and 5L 10 cylinder,

One is 20 valve, the other 40.

Both engines have a bore and stroke of 82.5mm x 92.8mm.

The Gallardo block is aluminum and the Vw block is cast iron.

Of course the compression ratios are much different because the internals, like you mentioned, are much different and the parts are by no means interchangeable.

Look up the old audi quattro from the 80s, that had an inline 5 just like this and sounds nearly identical. It was a 2.2 turbo.
