Here is a behind-the-scenes view of what it takes to make a Humble indie Bundle happen: Taking a screenshot every ~12 seconds for the first crazy 9 hours of the bundle's support chat. The bundle went live at 11:30am US central time.

Each little tab at the bottom is a conversation with a new visitor. The first support volunteer to reply is assigned to that person, and we always had about 3-6 people manning that chats.

Overlaid on top are the live stats from the humble bundle website. Unfortunately the Pie-Chart and Top contributors did not update live, and I wasn't very good about reloading the page regularly. The statistics on the left however were accurate.

Please feel free to say hi to our team through the support widget if you stop by =)

Cheers
-Johannes

Sorry about the crappy video quality, should have chosen a different format while it was recording, but too late now.

  • the vast majority of the first thousand sales were from macs , dont know why , because a few hours later pc was the leader by far (despite the low average)

  • @manyamaggot I think that's just because, unlike the stats on the left, the pie-chart didn't update automatically, and I forgot to reload it until a few hours in. (see description).

  • i like the pay-what-you-want model but minimum should be $1 surely, 1cent is ridiculous

  • @mcmamac Adding a minimum price would undermine the whole point of the bundle: We believe people are inherently good, and generous. So far this has held true (at the time of this writing the average donation overall is just under $5.) and we will continue the bundles the same way as we have done so far.

  • @Agent2313 Have you gone to the site and watched the video explaining what the humble indie bundles are about? anyone could get these games for 1 cent if they wanted to (that's what pay-what-you-want means), However some people like supporting indie developers and charity enough to pay more than the bare-knuckle minimum. I could certainly think of worse things to be charitable towards.

  • @Agent2313 fucking idiot noob

  • @mcmamac Well, in IndieRoyale they did something like this - minimum price as 2$ fot bundle#1 and #2 and 3$ for next one

  • @JohannesShadow I know it's for charity too, but $2,718... I haven't had that much money in my life and probably wont for a couple more years.

  • @jgiubardo I'd be interested to see the answer to this as well.

  • lol awesome, so much money flowing in.

  • The Support is doing realy great work. :)
