The Pinky Lee Show was an Emmy Award nominated afternoon children's program and a pioneer show in that genre. The fast talking, slap-stick master, Pinky Lee, delivered a highly entertaining show that kept the audience riveted on Pinky and his funny antics. He opened each show with his trademark theme song, "Yoo Hoo, It's Me!"

I don't know how much Pinky was paid for doing this show but he certainly earned every penny. Just watching the show is a workout!

  • Along with Ding Dong Schoolhouse, the first TV show I remember. Pinky was the guest at our college Trivia Bowl in 1972 or 1973. He came out on stage and - I guess assuming we'd all grown up - went into his Las Vegas act, laced with considerable profanity. We he saw the disappointment on everyones faces he dropped back did his old routine for us and provided a memorable show.

  • @HickysBoy He could read a crowd well. This must be a fantastic memory for you! -Michael

  • I had tears watching this, what joyful memories of simple times...such a quality show. Pinky was authentic & you can tell he loved what he was doing. Such fun...so glad it's on YOUTUBE. Thx for sharing this , I remembered getting a Pinky Lee hat!! MORE!!!

  • @TheVirajster I'm happy to restore these fond memories for you :) -Michael

  • I Oh yeah, PINKY. The original entertainer. And from his "Shoe Store"I got a pair of those cool shiny girls shoes. We could all use PINKY these days. Think I'll watch this every morning with coffee, considering the current state of our country.

  • @SpeegBJ Do you still have those shoes? That would be something! Excellent idea you have about watching this every morning considering...

    Thank you for commenting. -Michael

  • As a child I watched Pinky daily. It's so great to relive those happy times I spent glued to the tube. Pinky influenced not only Pee Wee Herman but also Soupy Sales, another of my favorites.

  • WOW, I feel like I'm a little girl again watching Pinky on TV. It's like a time capsule being opened. Lost memories are brought out of the deep parts of my brain. Wow.

  • Born in 45. Got our first YV in 52. This brings back memories. Thanks for posting.

  • Great post, many memories for this 1948 boomer. I remember his seemingly endless energy. I seem to remember a series of young women assistants, some who became famous ?

@bartist11 Clarabell the Clown was on The Howdy Doody Show. Bob Keecham ("Captain Kangaroo") was the first of many to play the role.

  • Dear Hoosiermoma,

I've met Pinky Lee Your Cousin in NYC back in the late 1980's..he was walking down W.57th Street. I said hello to him and talked to him briefly..he wasn't in the best of health. But he was kind enough to say hello to a fan.Sadly,he passed away three years after your father did.

  • @hwy61media Yes, I think the old Vaudevillers knew well how to read an audience. Also at the show was Freddy 'Boom-Boom' Cannon...the room just went wild when he sang his old hits. Funny, in 1973 we thought we were hearing 'oldies' from 1962 or so...what would they be now, another 40 years on? Who today would consider music from 2000 nostalgic? :)
