Tent City Dismantled

The Tent City in Mayor's Grove, Beacon Hill Park, Victoria, BC, was busted and dismantled on October 17, 2008
Four days earlier, the BC Supreme Court overturned a City of Victoria bylaw that prohibited erecting temporary shelters in city parks.
Two days after that, in a closed door meeting, city council created a new bylaw requiring all tents dismantled after 7am and not put up again until after 9pm.
Several people chose to ignore this unconstitutional new bylaw and remain in the park.
Police response was swift and uncompromising.

This saddens me so much that this is what happens to decent people, work today, homeless tomorrow, yet people from wealthy backgrounds go around killing people, stealing from each other... all these people want to do is, eat, sleep, laugh, love and survive that's all they have.. this treatment of people is shit... This is what Australia will turn into eventually as our population increases and even less full time jobs become available....this is so sad

People not yet homeless, take note. The time to do something is BEFORE it's too late. I know several people who would be homeless if not for the kindness and generosity of their parents. Parents don't live forever.

whats your problem dude , you just have to see that many officers dont like to that but they have, probably there are some asshole under them but , its just their work but i think they should maybe make a lil protest that the government should asign them a place where they can camp .
