Troy (a.k.a. Youtube user Parture) from Edmonton, Alberta (Canada) tries to prove the existence of God with the argument that "something cannot come from nothing," as popularized by Christian apologists like William Lane Craig. This call is a follow-up to an e-mail discussion that can be read on the Atheist Experience Blog and Biblocality.com.

This is an edited clip from The Atheist Experience #675 of September 19, 2010 (topic: viewer calls) with Russell Glasser and Martin Wagner. The complete show can be watched on Blip.tv and Ustream.tv:

NOTE:

TheAtheistExperience is a fan appreciatian channel on YouTube. The operator of this channel does not speak on behalf of the ACA or any other atheist. The "debate" between Troy (Parture) and the operator of this channel on Biblocality.com was just a quick response to a message that was sent to this channel. Troy never pointed out that he would publish the reply on his own blog and carry on the "debate" there. When asked to removed it, he simply said, "No." Oh well...

WHAT IS THE ATHEIST EXPERIENCE?

The Atheist Experience is a weekly cable access television show in Austin, Texas, geared at a non-atheist audience. It is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin. The Atheist Community of Austin is organized as a nonprofit educational corporation to develop and support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing and friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of state-church separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists and to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.

  • I like how the guy on the phone is getting super pissed off while everyone is laughing at him. xD

  • Everybody that's reading this, Think about this, If something cannot come from nothing. That means there was never the term "nothing" to begin with. That means there is no such thing as "nothing" which in science is true because if you take away all radiation and particles you get dark matter. Dark matter has always been there and quantum fluctuations from it caused the big bang producing a universe.

  • The universe did not come from NOTHING! The Big Bang was an EXPANSION of everything, not a 'creation from nothing'.

If this blockheaded caller could understand that the expansion was matter, energy, and space, he'd get why the hosts are refuting him.

  • I'm getting tired of people like this caller. They're so fucking stupid and ignorant!

  • When Christians tell me something can't come from nothing I just say well your saying god came from nothing

  • @6:59 "You're just doling out the fallacies like a vending machine."

    Great analogy.

  • @xBlackEditionx what a perfect way to explain it with logical science i am stealing this lol

  • 5:10 - 5:23 - Troy showing no shame.

  • Proof of Something coming from nothing:

No evidence for cause of big bang:

    =

Big bang was created by Yahweh!!!!

  • Wait, did he just say "that's right"? What a foolish person.

  • @taylan637 I believe carl sagan addressed this, quite eloquently I might add.

  • This caller is so dense..."If science cant provide the answer then the god of the bible is true". Thats his argument? Really??? LOL!
