Thanks for posting this. I am hoping to get into the auto repair field. I'm not looking to get into windshield replacement but I still wanted to have a rough idea of what was involved in the process.

do you apply the primer to only the exposed metal ? Ive seen others apply it to the existing urethane , and on the glass before install. is that okay ?

The pinch weld primer is applied to the exposed metal. You do not want to apply primer to the urethane. Urethane is made to bond to itself without the use of primer. Depending on the product you are using, most manufacturers also have a primer is is applied to the glass as well. There are some primerless-to-glass urethanes out there, but most require glass primer for a proper windshield install.

@incyphe Yes, there is much more to a windshield install than people think. The windshield is actually part of your vehicles safety systems much like the seat belt and airbags. You should really have a certified windshield repair technician replace your auto glass...you or your family's life could depend on it.
