Reed is my brother-in-law. He's been building race cars since he was in High School. He had an old duster that would snap custom drive shafts in half. he's building an Opel GT for my nephew now that will be smoking fast. Lucky bastard!!!
It is a powerglide with lots of modifications for high HP applications. The input shaft is larger, the gears are straight cut from extra strong steel and the torque converter is an 11" and is of the stator-less design. I hope this helps.
i have an 85 corvette with the same l98 blocke bored to 383 and stroked with forged internals, and i love the power it makes, what kind of trans do you use with that motor?
Pushrods ftw? I am an old gut that does not know what ftw means. Well, an old guy that is a geek engineer (mechanical). If I were an EE I might know what FTW means. Anyway, it is a conventional push rod motor. It is a standard small block chevy 400 with a 1/4" stroker so it is a 427. This motor kicks ass and I can out run 700 inch big blocks with 3 stages of Nitrous. Oh yea. We only pull out the spark plugs and run the valves twice a year when we change the oil.
