actually mate, you can go directly into 1 PARA. I recently had an interview (last tuesday) with sgt maj. for my recruitment into paras, and i asked him about that, and he said he spent all his time in 1PARA. they do swap about, but the main reason for swapping about battalions is for promotional purposes. i.e. if 2 PARA needs a seargent but your batt. doesnt, you'll go there to get promoted. People do swap about and everyone may get a turn in SFSG, but you can start off there ;)

@kashpk same but for regular, you go to either 2 or 3 para. after a few years of service you may be selected to go to 1 para where you will receive more advanced training.

if you join the TA you will go to 4 para
