Revealing the fan unit in all its' greasy goodness! This is an 8" fan unit, but it is mighty - the motor is a 1/20 horsepower 4 pole (shaded type) that spins this deep pitch blade to 1600 RPM's with ease.

Next will be the cleaning process and re-oiling of the motor.

And yes, the duct will be fixed. It just got knocked off when we had some people in the attic recently.

  • awesome fan! also is this fan vented to the outside?

  • @xctome - The duct to the roof vent had gotten knocked off when we had the roof redone, we cleaned it and put it back in place. So it is vented to outside.

  • Duane, when are going to upload part 2?

    -Marshall H. from DT

  • that looks just like my Nautilus 6" exhaust fan when its pulled out of the housing. same style blades even. i think they are torrington blades if i recall.

  • @gatrwrks - Probably this weekend, the cleaned up fan is sitting in pieces on my dining room table. Still need to clean out the duct and plenum chamber.

  • @dburrigh well my Nautilus can probably peform close to how your 8" Nutone does in moving alot of air, my nautilus makes up for the size difference with its RPM's. so yeah its kinda loud

  • @1944johndeerel - Yeah this fan is pretty quiet, all you hear is rushing air - kind of a "whooshing" sound. I've seen fans similar to yours installed, they really do scream with that 3000 RPM rotational speed!

  • @dburrigh yep mine does infact spin clockwise. i also think yours would be much quieter if mine was installed like yours is. you have the larger blade diameter and also mine spins at 3000rpm .

  • @1944johndeerel - Yeah the blade style is the same, but I think your Nautilus is clockwise rotation. This one is counter-clockwise.
