In the part of the US I grew up in,in the 60s, we were taught that the ancient Macedonia was essenitially "GreeK", and that Alexander The Great was a Greek. So, we were taught WRONG?

@gotch09 No, there is no evidence by any well-educated source that Alexander was anything but Greek. Thats why is called the Hellenistic age, if he wasnt Greek he would not of spread Greek culture. I admit that the Macedonians may have been a bit mixed in blood(though not related to the modern Slavic FYROM residents.) Modern FYROM is in Paionia, a different ethnic group from the Macedonians. In fact, the FYROM language is rather similar to Bulgarian.

She was Greek, from a greek tribe named Molossians. Her father was Neoptolemus I, king of Epirus, and her brother was Alexander I, who also became king of Epirus.

The Molossians were a tribe descended from Achilles' son, Neoptolemus (whose son was Molossus, hence the name). Their royal family was called Aeacids (from Aeacus, Achilles' grandfather). These people may be mythical of course but show the hellenicity of this tribe.

Byzantium empire was Eastern Rome empire after collapse western Rome empire it's fact it's history. Greek empire was 6th century BC. But Macedonia and Byzantium weren't Greece empires.
