  • If you buy the Alesis Pro DM5 kit, then all you need is the RB3 Midi Pro Adapter to make things work on your Xbox. The kickbox is only nec. if you're using the Alesis drums themselves and you connect them to ION's module, rather than thru the Alesis DM5 module (which comes with the pro kit). If you buy the Pro DM5 kit, you won't need a drum brain, as it comes with the DM5 brain.

  • Nice little video comparison between the mesh heads/ION originals..my only issue is w/'wasted energy'..I fail to see how note streak and accuracy can be any kind of indicator when it comes to how much/little 'energy' is expanded, seeing as it really boils down the conditioning of the drummer...

  • @CodyGazelle Valid point vis a vis conditioning. I made this originally because I found lots on the net explaining how to do this modification, but nothing addressing the issues I included (accuracy / streak etc.) Also, it served as great practice editing and doing graphics.

  • @CodyGazelle I just got a DM5 module for myself. If I am reading your comment correctly, you're considering getting the Ion or an ekit, from a company like Alesis. Well, the Ion kit is almost identical the the Alesis, and when I've done my personal upgrades, it's always been with Alesis equipment, so it really depends. Do you want a set that you can play without RB? If so, you'll need the DM5 or another brain. If I had to do it over again, that's the route I'd go.

  • the ion cymbal setup is to too steep.

  • @BlueTiger368 Yeah, it was. I've changed the set and cymbals since this video. Take a look at the most recent one I've posted to see the new set up.

  • I use the Ion Pro Session Drums without the mesh and I acheive 1/64th with the snare one handed.... Idk what your talking about "it increases 1/32nd notes" or whatever you said... All the mesh heads are good for are for rebound if you can't get used to the rubber heads and to protect the rubber heads

  • @bowlingninja - At this point in time, I'm leaning towards the Alesis DM5 Pro Kit, with a few upgrades. Can you confirm (if you can) if I'll also need the "Roadie KickBox" for the drum pedal to work, as well as the "RB3 Midi Pro Adapter", so that it can interface w/Rock Band? And yes, I'd also like the drum set to work OUTSIDE of the game..so I'll be looking into various drum brains for that functionality as well.

  • @bowlingninja - Thanks for reply! You did a great job w/the editing...which is something I'm working on myself ATM! Would enjoy seeing a video of your ION Drum Rocker "kit"...as I'm in the market for a e-kit and am currently debating between the ION Drum Rocker plus a few new accessories or if it would make sense to pick up something like the Roland TD-4/Alesis DM5 and then acquiring the necessary accessories, such as the J5 kickbox...to work along side RB3...
