This is part 1 of 2 showing a home around the corner from the Appropriate Rural Technology Institute (ARTI) in Pune, India, that uses biogas from kitchen scraps to cook with and an innovative wood burning stove that supplies 240 liters of hot bathing water from 1 kg of wood. Dr. Anand Karve, the innovator of the biogas systems, and his colleagues and staff at ARTI were kind enough to show me around and explain the marvelous simple climate solutions that India is generating while alleviating poverty at the same time.

  • I bow to the leadership in transforming the world. Keep it up and have fun!!

  • Are you Muslim? If so I am glad to see Muslims taking an interest in these things. I would like to start getting into this on my own. Have you seen lannyplans, here on youtube? he has some great ideas as well about cooking with wood efficiently. I have plenty of favorites devoted to biogas, and i wish that some of the technology from india would be used more in the US.

  • This is so cool! And what a nice family!
