There are a few songs on this album, and LHR, which make me wonder whose heart got broken along the trail. Anyway, if Carolina Dreams and Long Hard Ride aren't two of the most well crafted Southern rock albums of all time, I'd like to know what is. Windy City Blues, Walkin' the Streets Alone, Heard it in a Love Song, Never Trust a Stranger, Long Hard Ride...just damn! I do miss the pedal steel on the live performances, but then Charlie Daniels 'taint bad either. Long live MTB.

Great song. Doug sure could belt out a vocal in the old days. Seems he just could open up his mouth and reach all the high notes, and the right notes with ease. He doesn't have this range now, and certainly not the band. I have this Carolina Dreams set but I haven't watched the dvd yet. The audio portion is great. Looks as if the video portion is pretty great also. LONG LIVE THE MARSHALL TUCKER BAND. Rest in peace, Toy, Tommy, etc.

I love this tune. Never saw them in concert. Not sure who is actually left in the band but in 1975 I picked up my 8 track tape of Carolina Dreams and played it to death. I now have the CD. I still break it out to give it a listen now and then.

it's difficult to find a better guitar player than Toy ... MTB was practically an All-Star Band, frankly.

Doug was one of the best singers of all time, in my opinion. Man, he could reach any high note he wanted to and he had great vibratto. Don't you think he sounds like Mark Farner.
So glad to have seen MTB on a winter night north of Denver (CSU) in '78 when a senior in high school. The band blistered through a great set (check out 'Stompin' Room Only'), cowboy hats were in full force, and Toy wordlessly dropped soulful solo after solo on us. These guys, it seemed, loved playing, loved each other, loved their families, and were uncomplicated. Their music, innovative and positive, got me through some tough adolescent times. Denying them HOF recognition would be a disgrace.
