My pastor handed this out so I typed it here.

Hour of Prayer:
Watching the clock is not a good idea. It's not about an "hour," as in sixty minutes. Better to have 15 minutes of focused time with God that encourages you to come back again than a full sixty minutes that you spend to do your "duty."
Start by praying for God to give you the desire to pray. It's the Holy Spirit who prays through us. When God puts a desire in our heart to spend time with him, it will not be effort.

Here is a suggested pattern of a prayer "hour" for me:

Spend time thanking and praising God. Everything that comes to my mind about my past day/week, I give God thanks for. Often I will continue with a psalm. I've memorized some of them, so I will either read or pray through a psalm I've memorized.

If any sins come to mind, I repent of them and ask for forgiveness. If I've had any depression or feelings of darkness, I rebuke Satan and close any door I may have opened. I tell the Holy Spirit I want to listen to him and him alone and commit my life to his direction. I ask for the Spirit to guide my day and prepare me for any meetings, conversations, etc. during the day.
Then to my intercession for my family, friends, church members, missionaries etc. Any concerns that have come to my attention, problems in people's lives, I bring to the Lord.
Then reading Scripture. If somethign really jumps out at me in the reading, I'll spend some time thinking/praying about that. Meditation is taking a thought, verse, or word from Scripture and spending time with that. That's often a way God speaks to me.

End by giving the Lord thanks for his presence with you and the time you've spend together. Thank him for your salvation, and thank him that he will be with you today.
-------------------------------------
I'd like to add that you may want to thank Jesus Christ for praying on your behalf and that you don't have to wait in a waiting line to pray. You can talk to God at any time that you desire. God didn't have to choose to listen to our complaints and grumbling.

  • pastor i got this person thats says god loves evil ppl, she is wrong i know cuz it dont say the in the word of good hate evil but love the man its so hard to love a man that is evil.

  • @RENEWED7771 I'm not the Pastor I'm Justin but I'll tell you that God does love everyone the same, He died for everyone, evil is not a person but evil itself comes from Satan and his demons. It's the nature of Man to be evil that God hates and besides we are all "evil" as you say because we have all sinned and broken the commandments and need forgiveness, it's Jesus's Grace and Forgiveness that he is able to give us because of His death on the cross that allows God to overlook our sins.

  • some ppl dont ask for forgive-ness

  • @RENEWED7771 Ya I know it's sad.

  • @RENEWED7771 It's amazing that even though some people will never ask for salvation or forgiveness that they need to have eternal life in Heaven with God that Jesus died for everyone anyway and felt and bared all that pain and shame so that if even just one person accepted it they could be forgiven. Many will choose not to accept the free gift. That's sad.
