A lot of you have been asking if I play anything other than the big R. I decided to jam to something other than Rush this afternoon. Here's an off-the-cuff take of this great Zeppelin tune complete with faithful left foot hi-hat. I spent hours several years ago JUST playing lrr lrr lrr on the feet so I could do the triplets for this song. Sorry about the video, I don't know WHAT happened on the cyber-journey from my computer to Youtube.

  • playing the drums by yourself is the best way to discover how great bonham was.

  • @KillingLies1 And playing the drums along to Led Zeppelin is the best way to discover the its fucking mindless, one'hook music. I love bonham and he was excellent, but play along to any of their albums and you will soon find out how repetitive and basic the music is. Page was excellent too, as we JPJ, but their music is simplistic and as a drummer for a Zeppelin cover band about 5 years ago, i found out how gd boring it was to play this music.

Yikes. Never heard the term "mindless" to describe Zeppelin by someone who doesn't despise them.

  • @rklolson I love Zeppelin, in like 3 or 4 song doses, but after getting REALLY into them to do the cover band, I just discovered that they weren't really that great at composing. As I said, they just found a hook for each song and ran with it for 3 minutes. It's deathly boring to play, that's all I can say!

  • @Pauliewanna Oh god! Really dude?! I'd like to see you try to play something more difficult like Billy Cobham. Don't bash Zeppelin cause it only makes you sound like an idiot.

  • @eddysvideos33 I'll be the first person to tell you that I CAN'T play anything by Billy Cobham. He's a monster. I am an amateur drummer who plays for fun. I was just talking about Zeppelin's music not Bonham's drumming. He was a true innovator with great feel and I like his drumming, as I said, in small doses. I can't play along to more than 2 or 3 songs in a row or it drives me crazy.

  • @VinniePaul94 Okay, tell you what: YOU give me a written transcription of what Bonham was doing during this song and I'll play that. Oh, what's that? You can't hear exactly what he's playing because in 1968, the fidelity is shit? I just jammed man and there was only ONE place where I actually played something that is simply not in the song - from 1:55-2:02. Other than that, I think this is pretty faithful to what you can hear.

  • @jamesdibley1 Nah, I think those 20 people aren't fans of me.
