Super Metroid 100% Tool Assisted Speedrun 00:36 (3 of 8)

This is my latest TAS of Super Metroid, and it improves the last 100% TAS by about 2 minutes and 30 seconds of realtime, or about 1 minute and 50 seconds ingame. It uses a slightly altered route devised by hero of the day, which involves running through parts of norfair without a suit, and putting of wavebeam until after Ridley. The new route saved over 10 seconds.

Other major improvements are the torizo skip which saves around 21 seconds, and the glitched mother brain battle wihch saves around 15 seconds. All the rest of the time is saved by using better room strategies, having a higher general level of optimization, and optimizing door transitions for realtime.

NOTE: Optimizing doors for realtime might often look weird and slow, jumps and such before and through doors are made to reduce the time it takes from entering a door until you get into the next room.

@The70sDiscoKing Nah, that run is extremely close to optima. Even if I found some improvements they would likely be so small that it wouldn't be worth the effort.

@Cpadolf0 i agree. it's an incredible run! some of those tricks are amazing. i'm really curious to see what they look like when you are actually doing them in slow motion. Can you post a video of you doing tricks like the shutter run in slow motion, how to fly so far when getting hit, and show how you are also able to maintain the speed charge for so long like you did after getting out defeating Draygon. That would be awesome to see! Thanks

wtf!!! you ran for 1 second at numerous ocasions ans you got a speed booster... how???

@MSFRmike The actual time I ran to get the speedbooster to work is the same as if you just run, the distance is shortened though by only holding run on specific frames, and releasing forward sometimes to kill your momentum while still keep you moving.

@edgar901203 No, there isn't. There might be in some romhacks, but not in the original. You can even see the 100% completion screen in the last part of the video.

If you don't know the game properly, don't comment acting like you do :P
