Is the story of America's most famous haunted house real horror, or a common hoax?

In 1976 The Lutz family fled from their home in Amityville, Long Island, claiming that they had been driven out by terrifying and unexplained phenomena. Their story went on to become a worldwide bestseller which spawned dozens of books and films.

This followed the mysterious slaughtering of an entire family one night a few years previous. The murderer claimed it was the work of the devil.

Mediums and psychic investigators have claimed that there is a curse on the property, while others believe the gruesome history has been invented as a money-making scheme.

This documentary sets out to discover the truth about one of American folklore's most notorious mysteries and features George Lutz's last on-camera interview before he died in 2006.

@Aurasua I wonder that as well but also remember the time it happened 3:15 am maybe people thought they drempt it. One of my old neighbor's who lived down the street not far from me was shot and killed by the mob so they say and I never heard a thing course he was shot once not multiple times so you would think someone would hear multiple rounds of gun fire going off.

@SPARTANZODIAC007 There were no drugs found in their bodies according to the autopsy results which makes it strange. I don't get how they didn't hear it at all.

yeah I can't explain either, my only guess is that they moved in to a very slightly haunted house, used a Ouija board to make it a little more intense and made a big deal out of nothing, left the home to make money in books and movies and there 15 minutes of fame. As for the gun, maybe a homemade silencer. They were found on there stomachs, maybe he turned them over, so many things he could have done. That's they mystery of it all, what did he really do? ^.^ hehe

I think that the lutz story was true but the facts were embelished to make it more interesting.I dont think the house is haunted anymore.As a catholic myself i think there is some evil in this world that is not human......
