Moodle is monotonous, monochrome, dull and lifeless. But it is free. Good for schools and teachers; bad for students! Am I being too harsh?

As an instructor I prefer Black Board. I'm no IT person but at least BB was easy to understand and work with. Moodle appears fragmented with all of its little signs, symbols and directions.

yaa there is only one problem with Moodle for the past two times i have used it the site has crashed both times

Learn how to build in Dreamweaver, create an HTML template, and upload directly to a webserver. Once you do, you'll realize why online developers think of Moodle as the Trabant of web development programs.

@joethibault in my opinion Moodle is way better than Blackboard.

If this anemic and blurred video is representative of Moodle, then the authors of Moodle are guilty of mediocrity. If Moodle is an open source medium, then why has there been no progress towards making it look contemporary and eye-catching like Facebook?

Moodle is ridiculous to use if your teacher doesn't even get it. It also is a pain to check homework on if the teacher puts the answers in wrong.

This hideous video (ugly mix of fuzzy photos, hideous clip art, bullet-riddled powerpoint-type slides) is typical of what "educators" (yeah, right) subject their students to with Moodle. The Moodle site itself is dull and lifeless and confusing. Moodle aficionados have a condescending attitude toward newbies "Oh, you'll catch on... tee-hee." No. Why don't they catch-on that sites & applications should be attractive, simple, intuitive.

What doesn't work: Moodle is cumbersome, lots of clicking to get things the way you want, lots of page views when creating new resources and such (it could be much easier to create and revise).
What is great is the wealth of tools. There are multiple ways to do everything.
Overall, I find that for beginners it's too complicated and for advanced users it's overly time consuming.
But, it's the best open source LMS available on the cheap...
