@Glinkaism1 I grew up 45 minutes from Disney World, so we had a chance to visit often & this was the music in the Eastern-sponsored exhibit until Eastern went bust. Marched down mainstreet on sax with my high school band 3 years running. Nice memories! chuck
@chkjns chkjns, you are RIGHT. It was Eastern Airlines. And it was Orson Welles voice. Tag line was always, "Eastern (PAUS) the Wings of Man." The ad copy went something like this: SFX: Voices, Laughter. ORSON: "You've just meet some new old friends, like you've known them all your life..." :) Keep on posting gr00vy tunes, man!
A version of this song was the production music background for the American Airlines commercials back in the 1970s. I can still hear Orson Welles saying, "American Airlines (pause) the Wings of Man!"
To chikjns: You are right. This was a production music cue from a Brit library. :) Orson Welles was the voiceover on the radio commercial. "You've just met some new old friends"..."Eastern (PAUSE) the wings of man."
I live under the flight path for Stansted airport and today (17 Apr 10) is the first time I can ever remember seeing a completely blue sky (no clouds or vapour trails). The combination of this glorious weather, unsullied sky, absence of background noise and beautiful music is quite, quite wonderful. Thanks for posting it!
If the picture of the world that this music paints were to catch on, the 'warmongers' would find it exceedingly difficult to peddle their slogans of hate, mistrust, and most recently 'terror' to the hapless masses.
I believe part of this song was the theme music for Eastern Airlines nearly 40 years ago. It is simply beautiful. This arrangement is so packed with variety in orchestral sound, there's no way it would ever put me to sleep - I can't wait to hear each phrase, especially all the flourishes on the flutes.

I've a feeling that this tune was included on the BBC1 tape Sounds Of The South.
