Running emc cnc linux test on Y axis. No limit switches in place, so I didn't feel confident enough to let it go by itself by runing g-code. Also, still finishing the wiring harnesses.

Hardware: 3x Litton Clifton Precision motors 2x Gecko 340 Drives 1x Gecko 320 Drive 1x CNC4PC C11T Breakout board 1x linux box running Ubuntu and EMC2

  • Hi. I noticed your gantry section is shifting a bit during the movements. That's going to cause some problem when you have the vibration of cutting going on. You should stiffen that up. (perhaps you plan on it.) Just a suggestion. Mine is stiff during motion, but not as stiff as I'd like it for aluminum.

  • @guruflorida Yeah, the gantry is pathetic. i was really pushing the limits at that point just for the video, i think that's something like 300 in/min. Id like to brace it up a bit when i have time. i probably run it at 100in/min and have a really low acceleration for stops/starts to keep the tossing around at bay.

  • That's understandable. I did the same thing when I made mine, I hacked together a Z axis just to test software, it was much worse than yours! lol Good luck!
