Diving Horse (from a 60ft platform), 1923, USA. A very cruel stunt and incredibly dangerous stunt. From the British Pathe online film archive, view 90000 retro reels like this for free on: http://www.britishpathe.com

The horse and rider leap off a 60ft platform in to a pool of water. Thankfully the horse seems to be ok.

A Diving Horse was actually a very popular event in the 1880s. The 'attraction' was set up by William 'Doc' Carver. The horses sometimes dove four times a day, seven days a week. There were allegations of using prods, electrical jolts, and trap doors to get unwilling horses to dive. It lost its popularity after World War II.

Damn... That's insane. (The music is quite fitting for something so dangerous too.)

    OK...number 1...diving is not crule

number 2....the horse are trained to do this! TRAINED

number 3....there has never been a horse injured in a diving accident to date....so it's not animal abuse it the animal isnt getting injured.....how do you know the horses didnt enjoy it? How do you know they dont expience fun like we humans do? The horse wasnt sent up unless the horse had complete trust in the rider and the mount had been rehersed several times before. get your facts straight

Thanks for the upload. Fall in love with You tube because of this sort of stuff!!!

My step brother had been bullied. He explained he was about to get bigger. I laughed at him because I didn't believe him.... Until inside of weeks he packed on 40 pounds of natural muscle. He tried the Muscle Building Bible (look in Google). He doesn't get bullied any longer. I personally registered earlier this week. See what the results are. And the guys emails are cool!!!

If you read the original book on these horses you'll find out that it was safe and the horses loved it. They would dive even when no one rode them. I had a horse that was crazy about swimming and going underwater and he would go in even without me. I read about them years ago, the platform was even built so the horse could launch safely. The pool was very deep too.
