  • No, that's not an animation. NASA mounted a video camera and a transmitter on top of the solid rocket booster.

  • "The original Battlestar Galactica, Colonial Viper fighter peeling away."

I think NASA let Glenn Larson have a look at the Space Shuttle plans, right before Larson wrote Galactica.

  • There are a total of 3 cameras on each SRB; one towards the front of the SRB looking toward the aft end of the SRB., one mounted towards the aft end of the SRB looking forward (this video is from that camera) and one mounted towards the front looking radially from the SRB.

The video is not transmitted. It is recorded on a solid state video recorder mounted in the foward section of the SRB. The video is downloaded from the from the recorder after the SRB is towed back to Kennedy Space Center.

  • This is not an animation. This is a genuine video footage.

  • That is awesome. The clarity is unbelievable. Is there any more footage of SRB front mounted cam?

  • animated? i've never been.. uh... up there, so i have no idea but it looks so clear and fluid. very nice either way.
