have you considered increasing the space for your spark gap???
-
you should see me dads 250,000 volt tesla coil look up on my contacts tommyg

What is your coils specifications? Input power in voltage, and amperage on the high voltage side, secondary dimensions, max spark length, etc?

cool, you got one of those NST filters. I saw those filter kits on ebay. They seem pretty cool

It's not really proven to filter the frequency we create with our coils, but I'd like to think it's helping... There is one obvious design flaw. I have the filter located right under the coil. It should be kept as far away, and as close to the wall outlet as possible. I ended up making my own control panel with power switch, push switch, light indicators, and filter all in one. I use that to control my new coil.

I like how I said, "I use this surge protector, it's a very good surge protector..." LOL!

hello..not trying to bum you out but you have very off tuning....i have a 700 turn 2 inch but 11 inch coil...i use 2kv and a few milliamps and i get 2 inch spark....but you have a VERY nice coil...just need a bit of tuning and like homedistiller said you need a larger capacitor for resonant charging.i must have great tuning for my current setup...but with a topload i get NO breakout....but that is because i have a bugzapper runing it!

This video was my first test run of the coil. I have more videos of later progress on my YouTube homepage. I disassembled my old setup you see here, and haven't worked on the setup in a good amount of time. New setup will have a portable base, which I have already made, and a 1/4" copper coil primary that is not yet complete.

do Tesla coils give of magnetic fields
twirlywirly55 4 years ago
Yes, any amount of electrical charge also developes an electro-magnetic field. The field created by a Tesla Coil is, as my guess, most likely very large, but very weak for a coil my size that is tuned for maximum length electrical streamers, and not power transfer.
