  • these were practice logs done with a chainsaw you cut an x right down to 6inch from the bottom i will be splitting one with an axe then bind the pieces back to gather with a gap for the air flow. also am going to try try 4 logs light fire in the middle and see how that goes good for large groups no need to gather wood also burns about 7 hours

  • Very cool! We always have a cookout when we atv ... gonna give this a try next time. I wouldn't have believed a green spruce log semi-split in 4 would catch fire with a bit of birch bark stuffed in the center ... can't wait to try this with white cedar log also.

    I'd love to see a video of this process from the very beginning ... showing how you actually split & stuffed the log & started the fire. I assume you must wedge the splits open so there is more air space between?

  • Have not seen a bbq made like that before. Did you use an axe to cut the upright logs into that X shape? And then burn down into it? Cheers!
