the book was SOOOO much better. I mean, man it was already innacurrate enough, but when it came to Grendel's mother, the movie just got plain out stupid. Beowulf gets laid instead of killing a demon that should look ferocious and ugly. Hygelac is not even in the movie (ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?)....the dragon is Beowulf's son....like wtf...

@SilentPhenomed it's more interesting this way. The original beowulf story is kind of cliche and predictable, the characters have no flaws and it's a basic good vs evil theme. No complexity.

It's one thing to have Beowulf screw Grendel's mother instead of killing her. It's one thing for the dragon to be Beowulf's son by Grendel's mother. It's one thing for Beowulf to become king of Denmark instead of Geatland. It's one thing for Hrothgar to have screwed Grendel's mother too. It's one thing for Beowulf to fight Grendel naked just 'cuz. What tears it for me is when Beowulf says "We are GEETS."

I'm joking of course. This entire movie is bullshit.

Honestly i thought the movie was soooo much better than the poem im not saying the story was bad but it was very straight forward good vs evil and dry the movie brought it into a modern era with a more complex story and characters who hav emotions and flaws

the movie was alright even though the story was inacurate, i've seen worser adaptations ! Beowulf giving out one-liners in london/cockney accent was bloody wicked, in-it :)

Beowulf my ass this is some bullshit the movie is not even close to the original story if they want to make shit like this they should have made it with a different name and characters because this movie is a disgrace to the original beowulf poem! >:F
