  • @Sassydollnla is to contact a councilor from your daughters school, and ask if there are any organizations willing to help with people who miss school due to a disability, but are capable to do the work. It's been over a year now since I've had a migraine, and after taking IQ tests, ACTs, and having psych evaluations, I am going to school to be a paramedic because it's what I want to do. My test scores show that I'm able to go much farther, but I am choosing now to. Good luck to your daughter.

  • @Sassydollnla Because of my migraines, I had missed huge amounts of school my whole life. Someone realized that I'm more than capable to do the work, but because of my absences I had bad grades. I went to a credit recovery program at a trade school, where I made up my grades, and fortunately only graduated a year late, instead of dropping out of school all together. My state(West Virginia) has programs for people who have disabilities and need help with school. The best advice I can give....

  • @Renegade17441 I hop you can tell me how you received help with college do to HM. My 14 year old daughter has HM and I worry so for her. Please tell me what I can do to help her find help with college and transportation. Thanks Lynn

  • Iv had one of these, when i was pregnant. It was the most frightening experience of my life and i really hope i wont get one ever again. Mine lasted only a few minute's i went blind in one eye, couldn't talk, couldn't move my body. After it happened i thought i had had a fit of some sort. I also had memory loss which was very scary! Spent the night in hospital, my husband thought our baby had died but no, hes here happy and healthy 2 years later.

  • @Renegade17441 Also, I haven't had one in about eight months. When I do have them they're unexpected. I used to go from having one every two or three months to once a month, then it'd not happen for almost a half a year. A reiki healer flew in from arizona to heal me, and since then i've only had three migraines. it has been two years since she visited me. I'm still getting my free ride to college thankfully though. I hope everyone else with hemiplegic migraines get an opportunity like me

  • I'm eighteen, and have had these migraines since I was born. My symptoms are blindess in one eye, it's not always the same, numbness and paralysis on one side of my body, usually left but not always, slurred speech, nausea, and severe headache. They have ruined my chances of getting into the military so I had to change my life goal. I have to be careful when I'm at training(martial arts) because I never know when I'm going to have one. Luckily I'm going to college for free because of them.

  • I had one of these last night with 2 aural phases. The numbness came and went, then came back and went. BUT it lasts for a few hours for me so I consider myself lucky. It scares the hell out of me though! It went from every three months to about several, so maybe it's going away. I think mine are stress triggered.

  • I'm 19 and have been having this type of migraine since I was 14. I tend to lose feeling of the right side of my body following the other symptoms (Blindness, numbness, dizziness, etc). Doctors have yet to find a treatment that works for me and have also found a significant amount of "white matter" in my brain. Could this be associated with or caused by the hemipleagic migraines? If so, what treatment would help prevent this type of damage?

  • @rebco77 I have them everyday, and im in year 9 going into year 10 its not nice at all. I get extreme dizziness and my speech defo' slurs. I loose co-ordination and sometimes i go blind in my left eye and it burns. I also feel very very cold just before i get a hemiplegic migraine, like some sort of hi', i feel happy then suddenly it starts.

  • So for those of you who have this type of migraine, do you notice other symptoms not listed with your migraines too? I get a dystonic type movement in my left leg and the whole right side of my body will start shaking violently after continued attempts to do coordinated movements. Dizziness, slurred speech... etc???
