Vinny I just found your post totally by chance on dotheton.com good stuff.

Ok. Guess I should've paid attention to your reply to hawk7267! = ) But really...thanks again Vinny for keeping a great bike on the road, making her BETTER than new, and then having the patience and generosity to share with the rest of us. - George

@hawk7267 I think I was only going about 45-50 max, and average revs was about 5000-6000rpms. I need to make a new video with the 5-speed and the 350 kit. I'm now shifting at about 8000, and with the new valve springs and titanium caps, you can probably hold it there forever!

Nice sound, nice vid. What was your top speed in this vid ? (and rpm ?)

How much of a difference will the NOVA trans make? A sizeable investment for one more gear and you also lose your kickstart gear I believe?

@gp3yt Yep definitely a sizable investment for one more gear, but it completely transforms the bike - 2nd gear feels like 3rd, 3rd like 4th etc. Plus, I have the 350 kit, so it's a nice combination. Losing the kick start is no big deal, plus it eliminates the kickstart shaft, which on these bikes are prone wear after a while (you'll know it when the kickstart lever starts to move on its own, particularly in 2nd gear).

NICE Vinny!!! You had that motor singin'!! Cool camera position too...like an old CHiPs episode!! LOL. Those carbs and pipes sound unbelieveable! This is prob my 20th replay! I'm right in the middle of rebuilding my '65 CB77 and I'd like to know where you sourced your 5-speed tranny? Was it Bill Moeller out of Ohio?

@gp3yt The transmission came from NOVA in England, and they are the only makers of a 5 speed transmission for a CB77 (aside of course from the CYB ones). Mine is the fifth one made.

Can't help it, but I hear some British influences in the produced sound ?
hawk7267 3 months ago
@hawk7267 Um...slightly! It has Norman Hyde TOGA Goldstar mufflers (unbaffled), AMAL carbs, 350 big bore kit (not in this video though), and a British NOVA 5 speed transmission, and a host of British bike items on it. So yes, there is quite a bit of British influence on this bike. Go to honda305.com , click on 'Forum', then scroll down to 'Racers, Choppers, Mods', then the 'Japan Meets Britain' thread, and you can see all of it.
