This is a short segment from the CBS show '48 Hrs' examing the case against Dr. Jeffey MacDonald. MacDonald was convicted of murdering his wife, Colette, and two young daughters, Kimberly and Kristen, in 1979 but continues to claim that a band of Manson-style hippies was actually responsible. The murders were the subject of the book 'Fatal Vision' by Joe McGinnis and the TV movie of the same name.

This video features clips of MacDonald's appearance on 'Dick Cavett' shortly after the Army (MacDonald had been a captain in the Green Berets when the murders occurred) had exonerated him. Also included are reactions to MacDonald's interview from Dick Cavett, Bob Stevenson (Colette's brother) and MacDonald himself.

  • Where can we read the medical examination of the so called " life threathening" wounds ?

  • @Hoth1907 If you do a google search for "jeffrey macdonald case," you'll find the site of Christina M. The site has a wide range of the case documents posted.

  • @jksonny i know the site of Christina, but i have never read a documented record that MacDonald really sustained those supposedly life threatening injuries he claimed. But thanks for the hint, appreciate it!

  • @Hoth1907 I'm not sure what medical reports are on the site but obviously, no record exists of MacDonald's "life threatening" wounds b/c they never existed.

  • @jksonny that is correct, therefore everyone who ''shouts'' out that he was seriously wounded is believing hearsay or still believes in Santa Claus…..

  • @Hoth1907 I agree. MacDonald's supporters believe what they want to believe and ignore everything else. They jump up and down about Stoeckley being involved but they never mention that she claimed to have had sex with Mac prior to the murders. They never address the phony trip to Russia with the boxing team. They never ask why Mac, as a physician and a "distraught" father, did not turn on the lights to check his family's wounds or go to the neighbors for help. It's ridiculous.

  • acid is groovy but killing your whole family is not very groovy

  • I've read about both Jeff Macdonald and Scott Peterson. I've just finished reading about David Temple, who murdered his own pregnant wife, Belinda, so he could be with his "other" woman without losing custody of his son or pay child support through divorce. These 3 men will go to their graves denying their crimes. We'll never know what REALLY happened. ;( RIP Colette, Kimberly, Kristin, Baby Boy MacDonald, Laci and Conner Peterson, and Belinda and Erin Ashley Temple.

  • @Hoth1907

Dr. Merrill Bronstein examined mac and didn't find all the wounds that mac was claiming. You can read his testimony by searching on themacdonaldcase dot cm. Click on Exhibits and Findings. Click on the second box for Case Documentation. Click on Trial and the 3rd listing is for Bronstein. This data base has all the case exhibits, with photos and any documentation.

  • @mrwonderfulman2011 He wasn't stabbed that many times cause there was no blood where he said he was stabbed. He laid face down on the floor, NO BLOOD! Also none of his wounds matched up with his top, proving he stabbed himself in the lung w/ his shirt off. Also there's no threads found where he said his top was torn. All the threads were in the bedrooms w/ and on and around the victims. Anyone that thinks he's innocent are just plain foolish.

  • @Hoth1907 One item that MacDonald supporters base their claim that he was severely injured on is the 1970 statement of Ron Harrison, a close friend of Macdonald's who stated that he saw stab wounds and head trauma on him at the hospital. By the time he testified at the grand jury, he very much equivocated on questions about MacDonald's injuries. I prefer the statements of medical doctors who treated him the morning after the murders - e.g., Severt Jacobson.

  • @mrwonderfulman2011 His medical records state he had a bump on the head, not "blunt trauma" - Colette and Kimberley had "blunt trauma". The medical records also state he had some "very superficial lacerations" - other than that neat, straight-in-and-out chest wound that he gave himself, he didn't even need a band-aid.

Do not call the Guinnees Bood of World Records - gullible, psychologically needy believers of horrible murderers are a dime a dozen.

  • @jksonny correct, Mac supporters always throw in the same ''evidence'' that he is innocent, but they never realize that this ''evidence'' was never proven. If confronted with the documented record and the real evidence, they become aggressive and insulting. I agree with you: as a trained green beret physician he failed miserably.
