Reference pictures and steps were found in the book "Drawing Realistic Textures in Pencil" by J.D. Hillberry. Found at Barnes and Noble

I started by sketching the teapot onto a piece of frisket film, a type of clear material that is sticky on the back. Next I carefully cut it out with a razor and applied it to the paper. Then I did the background and shelf in charcoal. I put a couple pics at the very end of the video to show a better view of the detail I added. I just wanted to point this out because I'm sure people will be curious about how-where I got the teapot cutout.

  • This is amazing but I don't know how to use or where to get charcoal?

Any ideas maybe for a basic pencil drawing?

BTW, what pencil do you usually use?

  • @Jonathanartman Buy online. I use "generals charcoal pencil set". Most art suppliers carry them.

  • @VintageLipstick; scrapings off a charcoal stick.

  • where can you get frisket film?

  • @syth406 I got mine at Michael's, you can get it online too.

  • You are one of my inspirations. I'm currently teaching myself the proper way to draw. I want to be an animator. I was wondering, do you do this for a hobby, or do you plan on using your skills to make a living?

  • @spongebob03 ummm i just do it as a hobby right now, Don't really plan to make it a living at the moment... maybe in the future, but I'm not sure :)

    Good luck
