Finally, we can continue onwards towards the next town and Gym, and begin to own more regular Trainers along with way, especially when they don't all have bats and balls of toxic fumes (per http://www.youtube.com/user/Ech0ez ). Also, Chris eventually does what he was supposed to do.
To let you know, when I played ahead to see what I would be up against and what would happen, Chris evolved every time he hit Level 32, without me even doing anything else to him, like healing or anything. Yet for some reason this time he decided not to. Maybe it's because all those other times I actually ran back down to the Pokémon Center to heal rather than healing there and then and that added another happiness point by walking 256 steps...?
Yay, less bats and balls of toxic fumes =D
And contradicting that last statement, yay for Crobat.
The exclamation mark has something to do with the Shining Leaf I believe, although I can't remember what it actually is. I'm pretty sure it's just something that appears on the Pokemon's status screen though.

Well, I just checked how to tell whether or not a Pokémon has a Shining Leaf or not, and no it wasn't that.
