  • You are quite correct.

I don't recall which civilizations and what years / ages this happened but I do remember that fermented brews were much safer back then than the alternative of drinking the local water.

If I remember my history correct, some had a weaker ale / wine as a general daily drink and then they had a stronger ale / wine in the evening for merry making.

  • @DrunkenAnglers I think it was England I believe the Low Strength beer was a called a short beer and the Higher Strength a Long Berr. Thanks for watching

  • I started out with all-grain brewing, and it's not hard.. it just adds another 90min to your brew time with the mashing and sparging. My only suggestions are keep an eye on your temps, and use a good software app for creating your recipes. I use "BrewTarget" and it's great, you can really play with a lot of ideas, and it tells you if it it would be "malty or hoppy" as well as the usual ABV and even calories per serving. It's fun stuff. Ditch the cans, man! And have fun with your new gear! :)

  • @tim78704 Can't wait to ditch the cans.

  • Hi Gentle, I'm in exactly the same place as you in taking that jump and will be watching with interest, looking forward to it, Ulllaa.

  • @joctcl Good luck joctci. May we bother master it.

  • Heya GentleArts. Welcome to the wonderful and confusing world of all grain. If you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask. I have done it without spending a ton of money on equipment and I get great beers. Glad to help.

    Cheers

  • Hangover,What's That? No such thing as hangovers form home brew here! Cheers!

  • @DGrahamEMTA Does it matter how big the glass is?
