The Road to Paradise (Lo-Fi Original)

I wrote this song about New Zealand while my wife and I were on our Honeymoon in a gorgeous area of the South Island known as Glenorchy. Being in such stunning surroundings you couldn't help but be both inspired and humbled at the same time.

Interestingly enough there is a town in this region aptly named Paradise. We went looking for paradise, and while we never quite found it, we got pretty damn close - both literally and figuratively.

Unfortunately the ongoing RAM issues I'm experiencing with my computer are leaving a lot to be desired in the audio and video department, so I'm willing to re-record this once I get it fixed - providing there is a demand for it. The Road to Paradise

A land so pristine and peaceful
such as I have never seen
whose mountain peaks reach up
to touch the heavens
there's beauty far as eyes can see,
uninterrupted space
and a timelessness
that hangs about the place

whose calm and quiet glacial pools
lay at the mountain's feet
with an aqua hue that softly radiates
the landscape knows no equal
in its sheer magnificence
with sites to take
your very breath away

there's a wildness and a solitude
you sense from all around
that evokes a sense
of freedom and humility
so there are no words to describe
the gorgeous, awe-inspired wonder
and the aura of such untamed majesty

mists form within the valley,
drape a veil before my eyes
as though the outside world
has vanished without a trace
all that remains is peace and calm
in this secluded place
where the river steers the Road to Paradise.
