2008 Chevrolet Aveo Review

I review the 2008 Chevrolet Aveo5 LS hatchback. It was a rental.

Pros:
-Easy to park, low-ish price, American badge, decent fuel economy.

Cons:
-Poor safety, poor interior quality, poor build quality, no options, poor-ish space in the rear, unappealing looks, jerky "manual" mode on the transmission, a joke of a horn, terrible sound system, uncomfortable ride, shaky at highway speeds, made by Daewoo (Kalos platform), the list goes on.

Overall verdict:
-6/20

My recommendation:
-Don't buy ANY Chevrolet Aveo up to the 2010 model year, I've driven this one and a new designed 09'-10' (also a rental) and while the new Aveo has some slight improvements it is still far behind the competition. It's best you buy something like a Ford Fiesta, Honda Fit, or smart fortwo.

I put full synthetic oil in my wifes aveo an it gets better than rated mpg and runs WAY smoother

@eunicejules Hmmm...Good info....Since it was a rental I have no clue as to what oils were used in it.

But yes, synthetic oil reduces friction, thus equating to smoother running and more efficient running!

I've managed to drive this car and TBH it's comfortable in the back and the front but when you're driving it, it is torturous! I could never get comfortable.

The "hold" function is to minimize wheel spin on ice by starting the vehicle out in second or third gear. It's actually a pretty smart alternative to traction control and not a cheap attempt to imitate super car transmissions
