@z33twinturbo So you are saying that it is Nadal's grip that causes him to finish the way that he does? And you are saying that a player (Djokovic) is nothing more than a grip ("it's not really djokovic...")? Granted the grip is a specific that influences the stroke, many other players (in fact a great majority) use the same grip as Djokovic and neither hit it as well as Djokovic, nor do they approach the game with the same attitude. In a way, it is all about Djokovic.
@accel10s It's not really djokovic, it's their grips. Djoko is semi western exactly between the full western of nadal and the eastern of federer. The eastern is prone to a flatter trajectory but requires more wrist over the top/front of the ball, and the western is a different kind of cover more vertically up the back of the ball.
@ruggierojerolli Quite right. Novak is arguably a superior hybrid of Federer (extreme hands/whip) and Nadal (extreme muscularity/shoulder/drive) that is more reliable and, as you say, versatile. One indication is the ease and simplicity of his stroke - always a key component of efficiency.
Novak's forehand: definitively the most versatile, powerful, full of spin, the safest though less glamorous or stylish than Roger´s. Also the less traitorous because does not let him down when he needs it the most unlike Roger´s which in his so called perfect motion, timing and radar precision sometimes is painfully betrayed like in those 2 matchpoints in his last US Open '11 semifinal against Novak.
