I found this on one of my tapes amongst the numerous Rainbow episodes I have. Presented by Christopher Lillicrap, Flicks was produced between 1984 and 1987 and each episode featured a story and song. The theme song to the show was performed by Rod Burton of Rainbow fame and of course one third of the singing trio, Rod, Jane and Freddy.

In this episode aired on 8th October 1987, Christopher talks about how everyday objects can look spooky in the dark, until you turn on the light and see there's nothing to be scared of. Chris tells a story called 'A Dark, Dark Tale'. Then he sings a song about a funny little character called the Bogus Boo, who likes to come out at night and scare people by shouting "Boo" very loudly. But Chris teaches the Bogus Boo a lesson by scaring him!

  • Thanks for the memories again! Do you have any episodes of "We'll tell you a story" also presented by Mr Lillicrap?

  • @octomonkey1980 unfortunately not, although I do also remember 'We'll Tell You A Story'.

  • Anyone know the names of the presenters at the start of the clip? (you can only see them for less than 1 second)

  • That's citv presenters Debbie Shore (on the left) and Garry Terzza with guest Lisa Maxwell who used to present the Thames TV kids show 'Splash' at the time.

  • thanks for the upload! is there any way to get more eps of this show? I'm looking for a particular ep called "the camel who took a walk"

  • Glad you enjoyed it tarbuck77. Sadly, this is the only episode of Flicks I taped,

  • Children's Televison when it was educational and engaging, not like the mindless crap that fills schedules now, no wonder half of them can't read or write

  • @elafonisi08 Christopher Lillicrap is still involved in TV but as a producer and writer now, rather than a presenter

  • "Flick through the pages of a book, there might be something that will make you stop and look"... The presenter's name really DID make you stop and look! lol Chrstopher Lillicrap is a really nice guy though, I actually met him last year! He was a good kids TV presenter as well, friendly and gentle in manner but without being condescending towards the young audience his shows were aimed at

  • I remember the first time I saw this. The presenter's name came up and me and my sister laughed so hard for ages.

  • I always thought his name was funny when I was a kid, I still do. But he was a great children's presenter.

  • crap

  • @nostalgiamaniac
