My Trubute to Mom at her funeral.... I don't think I've ever done anything so hard as to lose my Mom... we all go through it...I've had my mother for almost 65 years...I've been incredibly lucky...so many friends lost their Mom's when they were young.

This is the video I played at her funeral. I knew I'd never be able to stand and talk, I'd be a mess, so I made this video instead.

The sync is a little off... but the message is clear... I'm sure going to miss her...

I sent this email to friends the night of her passing... something wonderful happened at the end...

It's been a very hard two months, especially these last couple of weeks... Mom died tonight (Tuesday) at 6:05 P.M. It was a very peaceful death... and after so much pain and confusion... it was a blessing....

The way it happened is pretty amazing. I was so lucky, I got to say goodbye... not 2 minutes before she died, everyone left the room. One person had a phone call, two others went for coffee... It was the first time all day that I was there alone with her. I walked over to her and she opened her eyes and looked at me. She didn't say a word, but she looked right at me. She'd been unconscious since Friday. She knew I was there.

I leaned down and told her I loved her... and what a wonderful Mom she was... and then I said, "It's OK Mom... I'm going to be OK...."

Seconds later the nurse walked in, and then the Hospis people. I stepped back and we were all looking at her... she closed her eyes, took one last breath...and it was over... It was like a movie... it was as if she'd just been waiting for me to tell her it was OK...that I'd be OK...and to see me one last time.

I only stayed about ten minutes after that... it was all I could do to keep it together... I got in the car and totally fell apart...it was two hours before I came home. Just driving around...

There's so much to do tomorrow. I won't sleep tonight I know. Everyone was expecting this... just not this quickly... but she was so scared, hurting, and confused after the stroke... tonight was a blessing...

One thing I did do while I was driving was to stop by Dad's grave... it was raining. I got out and told him, "I know you're the happiest man in heaven right now... Mom's home..."
