I'm most familiar with the "Best Sellers in Stores" charts, which had "Diana" at #1 and some others like Elvis's "Hard Headed Woman" but not songs like "Great Pretender" or "Patricia". But whichever chart, it a great vid.

@rmar67 If you remember the history of rock and roll with Bill Drake (which was released in 1981) I followed that montage and mimicked it by ear using my software. I was not sure what book they were refering to. The one I had - had "Diana" on it but heard nowhere in the montage....in the 50's section

Actualy, I've managed to find the answer. From '55 to '58 this is the Top 100.

I have Whitburn's book, too. but he used the "Best Sellers in Stores" chart from July '55 to August '58 in the book I have. It has some differences from what you have. It looks like it may be the"Top 100" or the "Most Played By Disc Jockeys" charts here. I was just curious.

Now that 's what i call a classic collection of No.1 hits.
Which of Billboard's charts are you using before the Hot100 debuted in August, 1958?

@rmar67 Not sure exactly if there were variations - I took it from Joel Whitburn's Billboard book of Number One Records and The History of Rock and Roll y Bill Drake's Final Hour of the program aired in 1981.
